The ground changes every few kilometres in this metro, and a pool has to be engineered for the ground it sits on. Here is what each city does to a swimming pool, and what we have already built there.

Water table
Ground water sits close to the surface in the bay cities and lower on higher ground to the north. It decides whether hydrostatic relief is essential or merely sensible.
Ground condition
Reclaimed and filled land behaves differently from natural ground, so the soil report drives the reinforcement schedule rather than a standard detail.
Site access
A subdivision lot takes deliveries at the gate. A CBD tower takes them by hoist, to somebody else's schedule, with nowhere to stage anything.
What sits below
A ground-level pool leaks into soil. An elevated pool leaks into apartments, which is why waterproofing carries a different weight in Makati than in Las Piñas.
Whichever contractor you speak to, ask what they know about the ground at your specific address and how it changed their approach. A quote that would be identical on a reclaimed parcel in Parañaque and a hillside in Alabang has not accounted for either.
